Former India cricketer Amit Mishra has denied recent media reports naming him in an "unrelated" domestic violence and dowry harassment case. The veteran leg spinner expressed his frustration over the report, adding that he is unmarried and stating that the allegations are baseless and unrelated to him.
Multiple media outlets reported that a cricketer and his family were accused of dowry harassment, with the alleged victim seeking ₹1 crore in compensation. The reports claimed that ₹10 lakh and a car were demanded at the time of the wedding. Amit Mishra was not named, but some platforms used his image.

Mishra stated that the allegations are completely unrelated to him or his family. He clarified that he has no involvement in the matter and warned media outlets against using his image in such stories, stating that he will consider taking legal action.

Amit Mishra Is Unmarried - Sanjay Bhardwaj
Mishra’s long-time coach, Sanjay Bhardwaj, expressed strong disappointment over the false reports. He stated that Mishra is unmarried and criticized the media’s lack of fact-checking. Bhardwaj added that this kind of reporting does not reflect real journalism.
“Amit Mishra is unmarried. Why such a story was circulated is beyond our understanding. This is not journalism. They should verify facts before publishing such reports," he said.
The controversy has sparked widespread public interest due to the seriousness of the allegations. However, after Mishra clarified that the reports are baseless and unrelated to him, there is hope that both media platforms and social media users will refrain from spreading misinformation.
