Anshul Kamboj had a horror night after a promising start to his campaign for the Chennai Super Kings. After being the highest wicket-taker for the Super Kings this season, Kamboj has gone wicketless over the past two games.
The Chennai Super Kings could not make a promising start to the tournament as they had lost three matches in a row. After that, they went on to start a winning streak, which consolidated their rise in the points table.

Anshul Kamboj's horror show against LSG at the Ekana

Returning with the seventeenth over of the game, Kamboj was once again hit for four consecutive sixes in the first four balls, which marked the end of CSK's proceedings. Kamboj was taken for 63 runs off just 2.4 overs in the match.
Kamboj registers unwanted IPL record in IPL 2026
Anshul Kamboj had an unforgettable night at the Ekana Sports Complex in Lucknow, as CSK could easily blame the loss on him. He gave up runs at an economy of a whopping 23.63, which remains humiliating for a pacer who has picked the most number of wickets for them.

Previously, this unwanted record was held by Yash Dayal, who was hit for sixes by Rinku Singh back against KKR in 2023. Anshul became the second player with the record, while he bowled just 16 balls, and half of those deliveries were hit for over-boundaries.
Also, he became the first bowler in IPL history to concede 4 sixes in an over twice in an IPL match.

Though Kamboj was one of the major reasons for the Chennai Super Kings' defeat in the last match against the Lucknow Super Giants, yet he remains one of the highest wicket-takers in the season for the Men in Yellow.
