Anuj Rawat reveals how Virat Kohli's golden advice helped him prepare for DPL 2024

Virat Kohli is one of the best cricketers in the world, both from the physical and mental point of view. Every emerging cricketer in the world aspires to be mentally and physically active like Kohli and it is no different for Anuj Rawat as well.

Anuj Rawat is currently playing in the Delhi Premier League 2024, where he is playing for East Delhi Riders. Rawat has scored 328 runs in eight matches so far at an average of 54.67 and a strike rate of 161.58. He is currently fourth on the list of highest run-getters in the tournament.

During an exclusive interview with PTI, Anuj Rawat spoke about how Virat Kohli's advice helped him prepare for DPL 2024. Kohli advised Rawat to keep the preparation consistent despite any off-season which will help him mentally.

“I asked him something about the game. He told me, 'no matter whatever the situation is in the game, just keep your preparations consistent. It helps you mentally'. This advice has certainly helped me so far,” Rawat told PTI Videos.

In the ongoing DPL 2024, Rawat also recorded an opening stand of 241 runs with Sujal Singh against Purani Dilli 6. Rawat smashed 121 runs off 66 balls in the match, which included 11 sixes and 6 fours.

East Delhi Riders are currently on top of the points table with 7 wins and 1 loss in 8 matches so far. They have looked like the best side of the competition so far and are the probable contenders for the title.

Anuj Rawat speaks on the upcoming Ranji Trophy season

Anuj Rawat also spoke about the upcoming season of Ranji Trophy in which he will represent Delhi. Rawat is looking for a breakout season this year and has shown good form as well.

He expressed his excitement for the upcoming Ranji season and explained the role of the seniors in maintaining a good dressing room environment.

“There is a lot of excitement and we have played together before as well. The senior players will help in maintaining a light environment in the team and that will help everyone to perform better,” Rawat said.

“I'll definitely try to maintain the start that I get from next year and would want to win as many matches as I can for my team,” he added.

Anuj Rawat has played 31 first-class matches in his career so far and scored 1338 runs at an average of 29.08 with 3 hundreds and 4 fifties. Rawat has also played 28 List A matches and 62 T20s so far.

Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli also play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) together. With Dinesh Karthik having retired now, Anuj Rawat is in line to be RCB's upcoming wicketkeeper. In IPL 2024, he started well in the first match but faded away soon. He scored 98 runs in five matches at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 127.27.
