India’s fielding coach R Sridhar brought in one of the fun elements on a rain-marred day in Southampton, where the first day of the ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand could not take place. Persistent rain in Southampton forced the officials to call the day off without even the toss occurring. R Sridhar, who attended a press conference, poked fun at Cristiano Ronaldo’s Coca-Cola snub.

The trend got underway with renowned footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, belonging to Portugal, who removed the Coca-Cola bottles following the Euro 2020 match against Hungary. French footballer Paul Pogba joined the Portuguese by removing the Heineken beer bottle from the table. Italian Manuel Locatelli did the same after a Euro 2020 fixture.

But while all the football players chose to eradicate the beverage Stanislav Cherchesov, Russia’s coach, removed the drink. Meanwhile, R Sridhar became the latest personality from the sports fraternity to poke fun at the trend of tweaking with the beverages on the presser table and asked sarcastically if there were any more bottles to remove.

Meanwhile, R Sridhar revealed that they would not tinker with India’s playing XI as he backed them to perform well in any condition or surface. The 50-year old stated they have selected it, taking into account the conditions on offer and asserted they would play in the final.

“I think the XI which has been announced is the XI that takes the pitch and conditions out of the equation. I think it is an XI which can play and perform on any given surface and in any given weather conditions. So that is what I believe this XI is all about which we have put on the park,” he stated in the conference.
