Asia Cup 2022 All Set To Take Place In Sri Lanka From August 27 To September 11

In the Annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Saturday, March 19, it was confirmed that the Asia Cup 2022 will begin from August 27 to September 11 in Sri Lanka.

The Asian Cricket Council Asia Cup is a men’s One Day International and T20 International cricket tournament for the Asian teams and it was established in 1983. The first edition of the Asia Cup was played in 1984 in the United Arab Emirates and India emerged as champions.

The latest edition of the tournament was also held in the United Arab Emirates and India won their 7th title in the 14th edition of the tournament. Also, Sri Lanka, the second most successful team, have won 5 titles and Pakistan have won 2 championships.

Meanwhile, the Asia Cup 2022 will be a 20-over tournament and the qualifiers of the tournament will begin from August 20, 2022.

“The Asia Cup 2022 (T20 Format) will be held in Sri Lanka from 27 August – 11 September later this year. The Qualifiers for the same will be played 20 August 2022 onwards,” ACC tweeted.

Jay Shah To Continue As ACC President

In the Annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council, it was decided that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah will continue as ACC President until the 2024 AGM.

The ACC Members unanimously decided that the tenure of Mr. @JayShah as ACC President and that of the Executive Board along with its Committees will continue until the 2024 AGM,” ACC tweeted.

Also, the membership of the Qatar Cricket Association has been upgraded to ACC Full Member status.

ACC would like to congratulate Qatar Cricket Association, who membership has been upgraded from Associate to ACC Full Member status,” ACC tweeted.
