Asia Cup 2023: Babar Azam Sends Message To Pakistan Squad Ahead Of Asia Cup, Says "Believe In Yourself"

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam sent a special message to the Men in Green squad and said them to always believe in themselves to shine in the upcoming tournament, Asia Cup 2023.

While speaking in a video shared by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Babar Azam said that many new players have been included in the squad and wished them good luck for the challenges they will face in the upcoming games.

The Pakistan skipper has also said that many players are taking part in different franchise leagues but when they will wear the Green jersey it will be a different feeling.

“My message has always been to believe in yourself and make sure that you give your hundred percent in the field.”

“It is great to be together as one unit again as we enjoy each other’s company a lot. We have a few new faces in the side and I wish them good luck for the challenges ahead. Most of the boys have been playing cricket in different leagues, but when you don the Pakistan star, it is a different feeling altogether. We enter this series with good momentum following our Test series win here and we are eager to build on it. As a captain, I am very excited for the cricket ahead,” Babar Azam said.

Pakistan are fully focused and have started to prepare for the big tournaments, Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023. Babar added that they also want to take one match at a time and currently working on the Afghanistan series.

“We are focused in our preparations as we have big events in the Asia Cup and the World Cup coming up. But, at the same time, we want to take one series at the time … It is always beneficial for a team to get such a series ahead of major events. That we are playing in Asian conditions will definitely provide us an edge and help us get in the rhythm. The Afghanistan team is on the rise and they have some good bowlers. The fans will get to see some exciting cricket,” Babar Azam added.

While talking about the Pakistan squad, Babar Azam said that they have many talented players in the squad.

“We have had some good additions in the squad. Faheem has been in and out of the side but he has performed well recently. We have included him because of his all-arounder abilities and believe that his presence will strengthen the side,” the Pakistan skipper told.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan will start their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Nepal on Wednesday (August 30th) at Multan International Stadium in Multan. They will square off against Rohit Sharma’s India on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
