The sixteenth edition of the Asia Cup is scheduled to get underway on August 30 in Pakistan. Hosts Pakistan will be taking on tournament debutants Nepal in the first clash of the competition on August 30 in Multan. Pakistan will host four games of Asia Cup 2023 while the other nine will be played in Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh will open their campaign on August 31 against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. Their second group against Afghanistan is scheduled to take place on September 3 in Lahore. Ebadot Hossain to miss Asia Cup 2023:

Ahead of Asia Cup 2023, Bangladesh could lose the services of fast-bowler Ebadot Hossain, according to reports in Bangladesh. The pacer is currently suffering from a knee injury. A report on bdcrictime.com stated that the knee injury is not new and resurfaced while Ebadot Hossain was practicing for Asia Cup. He now looks doubtful for the continental championship.

A final call on his availability for the Asia Cup will be taken after the reports come out. With the World Cup not very far away, Bangladesh are unlikely to take any gamble with Ebadot Hossain’s fitness. In case, if the 29-year-old is declared unfit for Asia Cup 2023, Tanzim Hasan Shakib and Khaled Ahmed are seen as alternatives to replace him in the squad.

Apart from Ebadot Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, and Mustafizur Rahman are the other pacers in Bangladesh’s Asia Cup squad. Bangladesh have also lost the services of veteran opener Tamim Iqbal for the Asia Cup.
