Pakistan National Cricket Team have been handed a major blow ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 as the 20-year-old right-arm quick Naseem Shah has sustained a shoulder injury, according to reports in Cricket Pakistan.
The young pacer is a vital member of the side as he forms a dangerous pace-bowling trio for Pakistan with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. Naseem Shah is currently in Sri Lanka where he is taking part in the ongoing season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) for the Colombo Strikers.
He has participated in seven games for the Colombo Strikers and has picked up 10 wickets at an average of 19.40, an economy of 7.32, and a strike rate of 15.90. Also, in all seven games he hasn’t gone wicketless.
Naseem Shah Suffers Shoulder Injury – Reports
Naseem Shah was forced to miss the crucial game for Colombo Stikers on Tuesday, August 15, against Galle Titans at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo due to a shoulder injury.
As per the reports from the same publication, the extent of Naseem’s shoulder injury is yet to be determined. In case the injury of the young pacer turns out to be a serious one, it will indeed be a massive blow to Pakistan. Babar Azam & Co. will be hoping that nothing is serious and he recovers ahead of the continental tournament as after the Asia Cup, Team Pakistan will travel to India for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
The Men In Green will open their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Nepal on August 30 at Multan Cricket Stadium. They will next take on arch-rivals India at the Pallekele International Cricket on September 2.
Talking about the match between Galle Titans and Colombo Strikers, the latter showcased an awful batting performance and got bundled out for 74 inside 15.4 overs with Tabraiz Shamsi and Seekkuge Prasanna running through their batting line-up. Also, Galle Titans completed the small run-chase easily to clinch the victory with 8 wickets in hand.
