Asia Cup 2023: WATCH - Rishabh Pant Enjoys As KL Rahul And Shreyas Iyer Play Practice Match At NCA

In what is the biggest positive for the Indian Cricket Team, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul seemed to have attained their full fitness ahead of the Asia Cup 2023. The duo were taking part in the practice game at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. 

The update about Indian batters Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul playing the practice game at NCA was provided by none other than Rishabh Pant, who is also at NCA undergoing his recovery process after the tragic accident he met with in December 2022. 

Rishabh Pant posted a video on his Instagram account, saying that he’s loving watching live cricket after a while. In the clip that he posted Shreyas Iyer can be seen hitting the drive towards the cover region whereas KL Rahul is at the non-striker’s end and is running quite well.

India have been without the services of two of their main batters in the middle order for a while now.  Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have missed a lot of cricket and it’s fair to say that their absence has been the biggest concern for the team of late. 

Shreyas Iyer has been out due to a back injury whereas KL Rahul has been nursing a thigh injury. They both underwent surgeries and have been toiling hard at the NCA. Their participation in the practice game gives an indication that they might be back ahead of the Asia Cup 2023. 

Asia Cup 2023: Rahul Dravid Drops Massive Hint About KL Rahul And Shreyas Iyer’s Comeback 

After the loss against West Indies in the T20I series, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid was asked about the preparation for the Asia Cup, replying to which he hinted about the return of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. He explained: 

“We have a few guys coming back from injuries in any case. We are going to have to give them opportunities to play (in Asia Cup). I haven’t really thought about Asia Cup at this stage. We have a one-week camp in Bengaluru from August 23. We’ll be assembling there as a one-day team. We will take it as it comes.”

India haven’t named the squad for the Asia Cup 2023 and they will be having a camp at NCA from 23rd August to prepare for the tournament. It is expected that both will be part of the camp and we will be getting a clear picture of their Asia Cup participation.
