PCB tried to put pressure on BCCI

Earlier, it was reported by India Today that the Asia Cup 2025 is in jeopardy as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to attend the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Dhaka.

The BCCI demanded that the ACC meeting be shifted outside Bangladesh due to strained political relations between India and Bangladesh, but ACC and PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, was adamant about the meeting being held in Dhaka.

PCB tried to put pressure on BCCI over Asia Cup matters by keeping the meeting in Dhaka even after the Indian cricket board received support from Sri Lanka, Oman, and Afghanistan.

BCCI agrees to attend the Dhaka meeting online

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been forced to change its stance and is now all set to attend the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Dhaka.

A TOI journalist confirmed that the BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla will be attending the ACC meeting online on Thursday, July 24, to discuss the Asia Cup 2025 matters.

"#BigBreaking decks clearing up for Asia Cup in UAE in September as BCCI agrees to attend ACC Dhaka meeting tomorrow (on July 24) online!! BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla will attend the meeting!" the TOI journalist wrote on X.

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Roger Binny, recently turned 70 - the upper age limit for any office-bearer of the BCCI as per the Supreme Court-approved BCCI constitution, and the vice-president, Rajeev Shukla, is likely to succeed him.

Aminul Islam Bulbul welcomes Mohsin Naqvi to Dhaka

Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) shared a post on X, stating that the BCB president, Aminul Islam Bulbul, welcomed PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi with a bouquet of flowers in Dhaka.

"The President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Aminul Islam Bulbul, welcomed the President of the Asian Cricket Council, Mohsin Naqvi, with a bouquet of flowers. Mr. Naqvi arrived in Dhaka ahead of the ACC Annual General Meeting, marking a significant moment for Asian cricket," BCB stated.

As per a report in CricFrenzy, Aminul Islam Bulbul and Mohsin Naqvi recently met Bangladesh Advisor to the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Local Government, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan.

In the meeting, a "constructive discussion" took place focusing on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan. Notably, the two teams are currently engaged in a three-match T20I series, which the Bangla Tigers have already won with one game remaining.

"Further discussions were held on expanding cooperation in higher education, including scholarship programs and academic exchange of experience and opportunities. The meeting also covered the importance of renewable energy, with a special focus on solar power innovations and the exchange of practical knowledge in this sector," the CricFrenzy report read.
