Pakistan suffered a huge injury scare ahead of their Asia Cup 2025 opener against Oman. While the continental championship got underway on Tuesday (September 9), Pakistan will launch their campaign on Friday (September 12) against Oman.
Just a day before the match, the Men in Green had a mighty injury scare as their captain, Salman Agha, skipped a major part of Wednesday’s training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai.
Pakistan captain Salman Agha injured?
He was spotted with a bandage on his neck after experiencing a mild spasm. According to a report in Pakistani media, Salman Agha traveled with the squad but did not take part in the warm-up while the rest of the players went through the fitness drills.
With Salman Agha deciding against taking part in the training session, there were concerns in the Pakistan camp.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has played down the rumours and clarified that the captain has not suffered any serious injury. The allrounder is expected to return to full training shortly and is set to lead his team against Oman before the high-profile match against India takes place on Sunday (September 14).

Speaking in the pre-series press conference earlier this week, Salman Agha was confident of his team's chances in Asia Cup 2025. The middle-order batsman stated that the team has been playing good cricket and is excited for the tournament.
"I think we are playing good cricket, we started that a few months ago. Things are coming together, as a team we are playing good cricket and looking forward to this tournament and everyone is very excited," Salman said.
No one is favourite in a T20 game - Salman
He was also asked if defending champions India are the favourites for the tournament. In reply, Salman said: "No one is favourite in a T20 game. In a space of 1 or 2 overs the match can change."
Pakistan have not won the Asia Cup since 2012 and the onus will be on Salman to guide the team to the trophy this year. In the last edition, Pakistan crashed out at the Super 4s stage and will be desperate to perform well in the ongoing edition.
