Pakistan National Cricket Team fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf are all set to get the much-needed break to be fresh for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE next month. The Men in Green are currently on the Caribbean tour for the white-ball series.
Their preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 are already underway, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) set to rest pace spearheads Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf for the T20I Tri-Series against the Afghanistan National Cricket Team and UAE National Cricket Team later this month.
Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf to miss T20I Tri-Series ahead of Asia Cup
As reported by Geo News, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf are likely to be rested for the T20I Tri-Series due to workload management. The move comes just days after Pakistan’s five-wicket loss to the West Indies in the second ODI on August 10, which left the ongoing three-match ODI series level at 1-1.

Pacer Salman Mirza and all-rounder Ahmed Daniyal are expected to be called up for the T20I Tri-Series, having impressed against Bangladesh earlier this year. Shaheen Afridi is currently playing in the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies.
However, the fast bowler will be given a short break before rejoining the squad in the UAE just before the Asia Cup 2025. On the other hand, Haris Rauf is still recovering from a hamstring injury that he picked up during the Major Cricket League (MCL) 2025. Rauf will miss the entire T20I Tri-Series for his recovery.
Here’s the schedule for the T20I Tri-Series:
29 August: Afghanistan vs Pakistan
30 August: UAE vs Pakistan
1 September: UAE vs Afghanistan
2 September: Pakistan vs Afghanistan
4 September: Pakistan vs UAE
5 September: Afghanistan vs UAE
7 September: Final
With the ongoing three-match ODI series-decider against the West Indies set for August 12 in Tarouba, the Men in Green will be aiming to finish the tour with a victory before shifting focus to a busy schedule starting with the T20I Tri-Series, followed by the Asia Cup 2025.
