The Asia Cup cricket tournament has been left under scrutiny again, as after India, now Sri Lanka has refused to attend the annual meeting of the Asian Cricket Council, which is scheduled to be held in Dhaka on the 24th of July.
The recent news has supported that the current political unrest in the country has kept the neighbouring nations from visiting the nation for the annual summit. India had earlier reported that the cricket boards have taken a joint decision to postpone the cricket tour between India and Bangladesh.
Though both the BCCI and BCB have cited international commitments as the major reason for the postponement of the white-ball tour, which was marked as preparatory games going into the Asia Cup.

"We have given a 15-day period so that all the member countries can make their arrangements. If any member doesn't want to come to Dhaka, there are arrangements for online attendance, but the meeting will be held in Dhaka," the PCB official told www.telecomasia.net.
The ACC had claimed that since both Pakistan and Bangladesh are currently playing a T20 series in Dhaka, which will begin on the 20th of July, it would be appropriate to schedule the ACC meeting in Dhaka. Moreover, Bangladesh has not held the ACC meeting for a long period of time.
BCCI awaits the Indian government's permission ahead of the Asia Cup 2025
India and their cricket board, BCCI, are supposed to host the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which has been scheduled to start on the 5th of September.
As hosts of the continental championship, the BCCI will have to adopt a hybrid venue for the matches of the Pakistan National Cricket team, since this was part of the agreement when India refused to visit the neighbouring nation to play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The ACC had written a letter to the BCCI asking for their approval in hosting the Asia Cup 2025; however, some sources from www.telecomasia.net have revealed that they are still waiting for the reply.
India's BCCI has awaited the decision to be made by the Indian government to advance with the continental championship. The 2023 Asia Cup was held under a hybrid model, as India played their matches in Sri Lanka, while Pakistan was the host of the tournament.
