The Asia Cup 2025 is set to begin on Tuesday, September 9, with a match between Afghanistan and the UAE at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Sony Sports Network has announced its English commentary team for the tournament, featuring Indian cricket legends such as Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri.

A total of eight teams, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, the UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong, will take part in the 17th edition of the Asia Cup. The teams will compete for the trophy ahead of next year’s ICC T20 World Cup. Matches will be held across Dubai and Abu Dhabi over 20 days.

India enters the Asia Cup 2025 as Defending Champions

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will enter the tournament as defending champions, having won the 2023 edition in Sri Lanka. The UAE has been chosen as the venue due to political and security concerns between India and Pakistan.

The eight teams are divided into two groups. Group A includes India, Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE, while Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Afghanistan.

Each team will face the others in their group, with the top two from each group advancing to the Super Four stage. The two finalists will be determined through the round-robin Super Four stage. Asia's final is set to be played on September 28.

The Asia Cup will open with Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Sharjah. The highly anticipated India-Pakistan match, scheduled for September 14, is expected to be the marquee clash of the group stage.

Official English Commentary Panel Announced for Asia Cup

Sony Sports Network holds the broadcast and live-streaming rights for the Asia Cup in India and has unveiled its commentary teams across multiple languages.

The English commentary panel features legends such as Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Sanjay Manjrekar, Robin Uthappa, Irfan Pathan, Ajay Jadeja, Simon Doull, Russel Arnold, Matt Floyd, Waqar Younis, and Wasim Akram.

In addition to former players, the lineup includes presenters and analysts like Sanjana Ganesan, Bazid Khan, Urooj Mumtaz, Tanvi Shah, and Samir Kochhar. This star-studded team is set to bring expert insight and energy to the tournament’s coverage.

Ramiz Raja Not Included in Asia Cup Commentary Panel

Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja has not been included in the commentary panel for the Asia Cup.

The Hindi commentary team will feature Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Ajay Jadeja, Abhishek Nayar, Vivek Razdan, and Saba Karim. Notably, Aakash Chopra has not been included in the Hindi commentary panel. He will provide previews, reviews, and analysis through his YouTube channel.

For regional broadcasts, WV Raman and Bharat Arun will commentate for the Tamil panel, while Venkatapathy Raju, Venugopal Rao, Ravi Teja, and Gnaneswara Rao will handle the Telugu commentary.
