Asian Games 2023: Nepal Reveals 15-Member Squad For Upcoming Asian Games In China, Rohit Paudel To Lead The Team

On Friday (September 15th), the Nepal Cricket Board(NCB) announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2023 which will take place in China and will begin from Saturday (September 23rd).

Nepal took in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 and was placed in Group A along with Pakistan and India. The small cricket nation ended its voyage in the Continental Cup after losing the first two games against the two giants and failed to qualify for the Super Fours round of the tournament.

In the inaugural game of the Asia Cup 2023, Nepal took on Pakistan and lost the match by a massive 238 runs. In the first inning, Pakistan gave a target of 343 runs after Babar Azam played a 151-run knock from 131 balls with a strike rate of 115.27. Iftikhar Ahmed also scored 109 runs in 71 balls with a strike rate of 153.52.

In the second inning of the match, Nepal failed to chase the target after Shadab Khan displayed quality bowling.

In the fifth group match of the Asia Cup 2023, Nepal played against India and lost the match by 10 wickets. In the first inning, the nation filled with mountains went to bat first and gave a target of 231 runs.

Aasif Sheikh played a stunning knock of 58 runs from 97 balls. Sompal Kami also led the middle order and scored 48 runs from 56 balls with a strike rate of 85.71.

In the second inning, Mohammed Siraj led the bowling attack and scalped three wickets to dismiss the Nepal side. Ravindra Jadeja also picked up three wickets in the match.

Before the start of the Asia Cup 2023, Nepal displayed a stunning performance against the United Arab Emirates in the 26th match of the ODI World Qualifier where they won the game by three wickets. The team will be looking to maintain the form in the upcoming win gold medal in the Asian Games 2023.

On Wednesday (September 27th), Nepal will play their first match of the Asian Games against Mongolia at ZJUT Cricket Field, Hangzhou in China.
