Asian Games 2023: Pakistan Squad Announced; Qasim Akram To Lead The Team

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced the squad for the forthcoming Asian Games 2023. Qasim Akram has been picked as the skipper of the Pakistan team in the Asian Games 2023.

Asian Games 2023 will be played from September 23 to October 7 in Hangzhou, China. The tournament will be played in the T20 format. Asian Games 2023 does not come under the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Pakistan Squad For Asian Games 2023 Announced

Pakistan have announced their squad for the Asian Games 2023. Pakistan have named a 17-member squad for the tournament. Qasim Akram has been named the captain of the team. Omair Bin Yousuf is the vice-captain of the team.

There are many players who have been picked on the basis of their brilliant performances in Pakistan Super League 2023 (PSL 2023). Among national players, Asif Ali, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, and Shahnawaz Dahani have been named in the Pakistan squad. Below is Pakistan’s full squad for the Asian Games 2023.

Since the Asian Games 2023 clashes with the ICC World Cup 2023, the players part of the Asian Games will not be part of the World Cup squad. Pakistan have only participated in the Asian Games once in the 2010 edition, where they won the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, India have also announced their squad for the Asian Games. India have named a young squad under skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. Many players who performed well in IPL 2023 are part of the India squad.

India And Pakistan Set To Clash In Asia Cup 2023

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan teams are set to lock horns with each other in the Asia Cup 2023. Both teams have already announced their squads for the tournament. While the Indian team is set to undergo a preparatory camp for the Asia Cup, Pakistan are currently busy in an ODI series against Afghanistan.

Both India and Pakistan are part of Group A in Asia Cup 2023. India will play their opening clash against Pakistan on September 2. Pakistan will play Nepal in the tournament opener before taking on India.
