Asian Games: Ruturaj Gaikwad Can Be The Future Star For India In All Formats, Feels Former India Cricketer

Ruturaj Gaikwad will be leading the Indian side which will take part in the Asian Games 2023. Currently, he is with the Indian team for the IND Vs AUS ODI Series. Ruturaj Gaikwad got the chance to open the innings for India in the ongoing series and in the first ODI he played a brilliant knock scoring 71 runs in 77 deliveries. Gaikwad has all the abilities to establish himself as an all-format player.

Former India Cricketer WV Raman believes that Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the future star of Indian Cricket in all three formats of the game. Raman feels that Ruturaj has performed well in all the formats in domestic cricket and the limelight he got is the result of those performances and not just IPL. Ruturaj got his first India Cap in 2021 after his marvelous stint in the 2021 IPL where he won the Orange Cap for scoring 635 Runs in just 16 matches.

“What I see in Ruturaj Gaikwad is the ability to be able to play all three formats. I also see a good temperament in him, and he’s also come through the ranks step-by-step, which means that he’s not been suddenly catapulted out of perhaps a good IPL season or two. He’s played in all the formats for his state. He’s been performing well and he also seems to be good at reading the game as a batter.” said WV Raman.

WV Raman on Ruturaj Gaikwad As The Future Captain

Ruturaj Gaikwad is already going to lead the Indian side in the Asian Games and since Gaikwad has spent a lot of time playing under MS Dhoni, WV Raman believes he will prove to be a great leader on the field. He feels that sharing a dressing room with Dhoni would’ve helped Gaikwad in developing leadership skills.

“The fact that he belongs to CSK and he tracks quite a bit with MS (Dhoni) would have enhanced his thinking and it also would’ve added to acumen, which is good. I think he will make a good candidate as a leader and as a captain. I see him really playing all the formats for India in the future and also possibly, he may even go up to leading the side one day.” said Raman about Gaikwad.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is really good when it comes to tackling spinners and if the pitches are going to assist the spinners as much as they did during the Women’s Cricket event then Ruturaj Gaikwad will play a huge role in India’s road to glory in the Asian Games.
