Former Pakistan spinner, Danish Kaneria congratulates Team India on qualifying for the final of the World Test Championship after their victory over England in Ahmedabad. India won the 4-match series by a 3-1 scoreline and therefore booked their place in the WTC final against New Zealand.

Despite the high of winning the series in Australia, India, surprisingly, lost the first Test against England in Chennai by 227 runs. However, the hosts romped back in the series, unsurprisingly, to win the next three games, and by massive margins 0f 317 runs, 10 wickets, and an innings and 25 runs to continue their dominant run at home; India have won their last 13 Test series at home – a record dating back to 2013.

The rise of team India’s golden young generation: Danish Kaneria

Post India’s triumph on Saturday, Danish Kaneria took to Twitter to congratulate Virat Kohli’s side for reaching the WTC final, which will be played from June 18th in England.

The former leg-spinner also termed Kohli’s group as the best team in Asia – India finished at top of the WTC points table followed by Kane Williamson’s New Zeland, then by Australia and England; Babar Azam’s Pakistan ended the cycle at the fifth position ahead of West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Danish Kaneria, who is still the leading wicket-taker amongst spinners for Pakistan with 361 scalps to his name, lauded the youngsters of Team India, who have helped them achieve immense success in the recent past, especially in the last couple of Test series against Australia and England where several senior players were missing or were out of form.

“Congratulations team India for Wining the series and qualifying in WTC finals and Asia best team to Qualified well deserved. The Rise of Team India’s Golden Young Generation,” tweeted Danish Kaneria.

Speaking of the World Test Championship, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is mulling over changing the venue of the final and moving it out from the originally planned Lord’s in London due to logistical issues owing to the covid. Southampton’s Ageas Bowl is the frontrunner for hosting the event as to having attached hotels which will reduce help with logistics in case of lockdown and movement within the bio-bubble.
