Uttar Pradesh Police has denied reports of a Bangladesh fan being assaulted by a few miscreants on day one of the ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
Just a couple of hours after the game got underway, the social media was filled with posts showing the fan receiving treatment in the stands. He was sitting on a chair surrounded by police personnel and medical staff in the stands. The fan was struggling to speak before the police and the local authorities took him to a nearby hospital.
Reports stated that the fan identified as Bangladesh super fan Robi was assaulted by a few miscreants in the stands. The local fans allegedly snatched the Bangladesh flag from Robi's hand before thrashing him and leaving him injured. The police then intervened and brought the situation under control before taking Robi to a nearby hospital.
However, the Uttar Pradesh police have denied the claims of any assault. ACP Abhishek Pandey has stated that the fan's health deteriorated due to dehydration before he was admitted to the Regency Hospital. The police also gave an update on Robi's health, saying that he is alright now.
https://t.co/KRBFYbXro3

Bangladesh fan accused of being an attention seeker:
Meanwhile, journalist Boria Majumdar has said that the Bangladeshi fan has a habit of seeking attention. He also stated that the claim was confirmed by a few Bangladeshi journalists.
Boria further revealed that the fan was caught doing Facebook live from the stands during the first Test in Chennai earlier this month. During the live session, he had accused the local crowd of abusing him even though he did not understand their language.
"While we condemn any act of physical harm on any fan, now it comes to light basis @shamik100 that this fan has a habit of trying to be an attention seeker. Bangladesh journalists have confirmed that to @RevSportzGlobal
In Chennai he was caught doing Facebook live from the stands. And he was alleging the locals abused him when he doesn’t understand Tamil," Boria wrote on X.
Writing further, Boria also accused the fan of going to a stand where he was not allowed on Friday (September 27).
"Today he had gone to the stand where he isn’t allowed. If he is trying to sensationalise and is trying to throw dirt at local fans, we will expose him fullest," wrote Boria.
