On Tuesday, December 16, the 29-year-old Jammu and Kashmir pace bowler Auqib Nabi managed to bag a great deal at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction.
The rising pace sensation Auqib Nabi was sold to Delhi Capitals at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction for INR 8.40 crore at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Auqib Nabi's stocks are on the rise
Nabi has emerged as one of the best pacers in Indian cricket in the last year or so. He possesses the ability to bowl exceptional lines and lengths and has dominated the Ranji Trophy.
The pacer registered for the IPL auction with a base price of INR 30 lakh despite knowing that his real value was more. In the last Ranji Trophy season, he bagged 44 wickets at a remarkable average of 13.93, and in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, he has picked up 29 wickets.
Not just that, he has shown brilliant bowling performances in white-ball cricket as well. The right-arm quick has picked up 15 wickets at an economy rate of 7.41 in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Cheteshwar Pujara comments on Auqib Nabi
Speaking ahead of the Indian Premier League mini auction, the former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara stated that the Jammu and Kashmir quick will be in big demand at the auction.
However, Pujara also opined that the Gujarat Titans wouldn't be a good fit for Nabi because they already have a potent attack and he might be forced to warm the bench.
“GT has one of the best seam attacks in the IPL with Siraj, Prasidh, and Rabada. Auqib is a talented bowler, but he can be there as a backup option,” JioStar expert Pujara said, while speaking to Hindustan Times around the IPL 2026 Mini-Auction.
