The Men’s Selection Committee has added Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi to India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand. Nabi was initially selected for only the fourth and fifth matches but will be available from the start of the five-match series.
Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the ODI series with a hamstring injury. The pacer failed to regain full fitness and needs more time to build his bowling workload before returning to competitive cricket. He will continue his rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Auqib Nabi Added to Indian Squad for First Three ODIs
Auqib Nabi strengthened his case for selection with an impressive performance during India A’s ongoing tour of New Zealand. The right-arm pacer claimed six wickets in the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A in Lincoln, including three for 28 in the second innings.
He will join the pace attack featuring Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar, Anshul Kamboj, and Mohammed Siraj. Since the end of IPL 2026, several Indian fast bowlers, including Gurnoor, Prince Yadav, Nabi, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma and Kamboj, have made their white-ball debuts.
Nabi initially received his maiden international call-up when senior fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh were with the T20I squad for the Asian Games 2026. He claimed 60 wickets during their Ranji Trophy title-winning campaign last season.

Auqib Nabi Endures Tough Start to International Career
Auqib Nabi made his international debut in the second ODI against the West Indies on September 30 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. However, he struggled on a batting-friendly surface, returning figures of 0/84 in 8.5 overs in a match that produced 811 runs.
The pacer was left out of the playing XI for the third ODI, with Anshul Kamboj replacing him. Kamboj also endured a difficult debut in Mullanpur, taking no wickets for 82 runs in nine overs. India failed to defend a target of 352.
Prasidh Krishna's Recovery Plan Ahead of New Zealand Tests
Prasidh Krishna sustained his hamstring injury on September 30 during the home series against the West Indies. The team management has decided against rushing his return for the shorter format, allowing him more time to recover and prepare for the two-match Test series against New Zealand.
The fast bowler is scheduled to undergo match simulations and fitness tests at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on November 1 and 2. If he clears the Return to Play assessment, he will join India A for their third and final four-day match against New Zealand A.
