The veteran India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has predicted that the Australia National Cricket Team will win the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Ashes 2023 series.
Australia are 2-1 up in the Ashes and they have retained the urn. A victory in the final Test will help them clinch their first Test series win on English soil in 22 years. The visitors won the first two Tests of the series before losing the third Test and escaping the loss in the fourth Test due to non-stop rain at Old Trafford in Manchester.
Australia have been given a target of 384 runs to chase by Ben Stokes & Co. in the fifth Test. Opening batsmen David Warner and Usman Khawaja provided their side with a terrific start and they looked settled in the middle while adding 135 runs on Day 4.
I see Australia having a better chance – Dinesh Karthik
Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the play on Day 5, Dinesh Karthik said that Australia have a better chance to seal the win because on the final day, spinners will come into play and England’s premier spinner Moeen Ali has not looked at his best. He elaborated:
“I said this yesterday in the podcast, I see Australia having a better chance. Yes, simple reason for me because Moeen Ali is not bowling at his bestand on day 4 and 5 you want to create opportunities for wickets. There’s a better chance spinners can do it and England are lacking that spinner.”
