England pacer Jofra Archer has opened up about his emotions when he became a victim of fans trolling over his injury. Jofra Archer said he used to ignore fans but their consistent hateful comments brought tears to his eyes.

Jofra Archer spent almost three years outside the field due to his elbow injury. He was also in and out of the team many times before finally making his permanent comeback for England in ICC ODI World Cup 2024.

Jofra Archer is part of the England team in the World Cup. He played a title role in leading England to ODI World Cup victory in 2019. However, due to his elbow injury in March 2021, he failed to make a proper comeback to the side.

I had a little bit of water in my eye and it wasn't the rain: Jofra Archer on fans trolling

During a chat with BBC reporters, Jofra Archer reflected on his emotions during the injury days. He said that he became too emotional after listening to some comments even though he tried to ignore them.

"I've seen a few comments, people saying he's on the longest paid holiday I've ever seen. You try to not let it get to you but you can ignore 100 of them but sometimes that 101st is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Sometimes you feel like a burden not playing," the right-arm pacer said.

Jofra Archer also added that some comments even brought tears to his eyes. He also revealed he once felt he would lose his contract with the England team.

"It was really, really emotional. I had a little bit of water in my eye and it wasn't the rain. I made a joke with Keysy [ECB Managing Director Rob Key] earlier where I said I'm really glad I'm back playing because I reckon I would have lost my contract in October. He laughed and said, 'no you're all right," the England speedster further added.

Jofra Archer is one of the deadliest pacers in international cricket. However, he has spent a lot of time outside the field for a long time and aims for a powerful comeback in ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Archer played in first match against Scotland

Notably, Archer missed some crucial tournaments like T20 World Cup 2022, ODI World Cup 2023 and even Ashes 2023 last year. He was part of England's recent T20I game against Scotland in ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

However, he bowled only 2 overs as the match was washed out due to rain after 10 overs in 1st innings. Now, Archer would aim for an astonishing show against Australia in the next game. England will face Australia on Saturday, June 8 at Kensington Oval Stadium in Bridgetown, Barbados.

England and Australia are members of Group B.  Scotland, Namibia, and Oman are the other three teams in the same group. Jos Buttler-led England is the defending champions of ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
