Legendary South Africa National Cricket Team quick Allan Donald has shared the secret behind the longevity of England National Cricket Team bowling greats James Anderson and Stuart Broad, who are the only pacers in the history of Test cricket to bag 600 or more wickets.

Among fast bowlers in the purest format of the game, Anderson is the leading wicket-taker with 689 wickets under his belt while Broad with 600 wickets is the second-highest wicket-taker.

The pacers are currently taking part in the fifth Test of the Ashes 2023 at the Kennington Oval in London. Broad has had a great Ashes as he has picked up 18 wickets and is the second-highest wicket-taker so far while Anderson has had a poor series with only 4 wickets in his bag.

Meanwhile, Donald has said that the England pace-bowling duo look after themselves very well and have maintained an unbelievable fitness.

“Stuart Broad and James Anderson are just being sublime and i mean that in the red ball format,” Allan Donald told Ab de Villers.

“It’s unbelievable. They look after themselves really really well. I just think that those two guys thrive on be the best they can collectively be in a Test arena.”

The legendary pacer added that Anderson and Broad “absolutely love Test format” and the secret behind their longevity is their hunger, desire, and passion for the game.

“They absolutely love Test format and what example they are being to any young fast bowlers around the world.

“Anyone wants to be Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad … gosh I guess lot of people would love to go and sit down with them and ask their secret behind this longevity. It’s just their hunger, desire, passion for Test cricket.”

“I think there is a competitive edge between them, They drive each other, they inspire each other and that’s how they get themselves to almost untouchable level. I have got nothing but utmost respect for those two guys,” he said.

England are 1-2 down in the series and have failed to regain the Ashes urn. However, the Three Lions have the chance to deny Australia their first series victory on England soil in 22 years by winning the ongoing Ashes finale at The Kennington Oval.
