England scored 208/6 in the first T20I on the back of scores from skipper Jos Buttler (68) and Alex Hales (84). Their 132-run opening stage laid the platform for the big sore. Nathan Ellis took three wickets. 

David Warner‘s valiant effort of 73 off 44 balls was not enough to see the team home. England also attacked with pace with Mark Wood taking three wickets. Reece Topley and Sam Curran took two each.

They played outstandingly and put us under pressure (on Australia), it was important for us to take wickets, which is what Wood and Curran did. Alex (Hales) has a fantastic record in Australia (playing in the BBL), Salt did well in his chances, but we felt that Alex was the man at the top in Australia and for the upcoming World Cup” said England skipper Butler.
