Former England captain Michael Vaughan offered a huge amount of respect to Stuart Broad on his retirement. Michael Vaughan also said that Broad has been fantastic for England cricket.
England pacer Stuart Broad has announced that he will bid goodbye to international cricket after the ongoing Ashes 2023. Broad recently became the only second pace bowler to reach 600 wickets in Test cricket after James Anderson.
I Huge Amount Of Respect For Stuart Broad: Michael Vaughan
While speaking to BBC, former England all-rounder Michael Vaughan offered a huge amount of respect to Stuart Broad after his retirement decision.
“I have nothing but a huge amount of respect. I remember when he first came into the England side, he was just different. He wanted to captain himself, thinking about the game all of the time”, Vaughan said.
The cricketer-turned-commentator also added that Stuart Broad was always around whenever a hot moment or niggle happened in England cricket.
“If there has been a bit of niggle or a hot moment in the game, it has always been when Stuart has been around. He has been fantastic for the England side,” Michael Vaughan further added.
Making his international debut in an ODI against Pakistan in 2006, Broad has come a long way. The 37-year-old played 167 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 56 T20Is for England.

Broad accounts for 602 wickets in Tests, 178 scalps in ODIs, and 65 dismissals in T20Is. Since 2016, Broad only represented England in Test cricket. He bid goodbye to white-ball formats a few years ago.
Stuart Broad has also shown marvelous form in Ashes 2023. With 20 scalps across 4 games, he is the leading wicket-taker for England in the series. Overall, he follows Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc (23 wickets). Broad has one more innings to surpass Starc.

Meanwhile, England and Australia are facing each other in the 5th and final Test of Ashes 2023. England have set a target of 384 for Australia in the match at Kennington Oval. England trail Ashes 2023 2-1.
Earlier, Australia won the opening two games. England won the 3rd Test but the 4th game ended in a draw due to rain. As a result, Australia have managed to retain the Ashes urn. However, England can draw the series after winning the final encounter.
