The 25-year-old England National Cricket Team opening batsman Zak Crawley has labeled his innings in the Manchester Test of the Ashes 2023 as the best innings of his career.

The fourth Test between England and Australia ended in a draw as the rain played spoilsport and Zak Crawley’s phenomenal innings went in vain. The batter had punished the Aussies with his attacking cricket in the only innings England batted.

Zak Crawley top-scored for his side as he smashed exceptional 189 runs off 182 balls, with 21 fours and 3 sixes. Also, he was awarded the Player of the Match for his sensational knock.

Speaking after the match, Zak Crawley said that they were in a great position to earn the victory and level the series but rain ruined everything for them. He said:

“We were in a really good position to win but the weather ruined it. We’ll go on to the next one and hope to win. We played a lot of good cricket on Day 3 and even yesterday but the rain cost us. We played really really well as a team.”

I’d say this is my best innings, it’s my favorite one – Zak Crawley

Zak Crawley further said that his 189 against the Aussies is his favorite innings. He elaborated:

“I’d say this is my best innings, it’s my favorite one. I felt in good touch, I knew a score was coming if I stuck with the process. I haven’t been stuck at one end against quality bowling, they haven’t had a chance to set me up. I’ve tried to take a few more singles and get boundaries when I get going. I take a lot of confidence, every bowler I’ve faced from their side has been high quality.”

Zak Crawley signed off by showering praise on his opening partner Ben Duckett, who has looked promising so far in the Ashes 2023 series. Zak Crawley said:

“Duckett is a phenomenal player, seen him score a lot of runs. We’re very different so it works quite well. Every game is massively important for us, we keep building.”

The Kennington Oval in London is set to host the Ashes finale this year. The match will be played from July 27 to 31.
