Really Hard To Comment But It Was A Decent Call: Nathan Lyon
During a conversation with (Sports Entertainment Network) SEN 1170 The Run Home, Aussie off-spinner Nathan Lyon was asked whether Australia made the right decision by replacing Todd Murhpy with Cameron Green. To this, the veteran spinner said it’s really hard to comment on that. However, he also added that having an extra batter eventually helped Australia in the match.
“It’s really hard for me to comment on that. You look at it now, obviously they went off conditions based and with the forecast in mind with that selection. Having the extra batter in the second innings was pretty handy”, Nathan Lyon said.
“If they happened to get on last night, we had Alex Carey still waiting to come out and bat as well. All in all, it probably worked out to be a decent selection just off the back of having an extra batter when we needed it,” Lyon further added.
Australia managed to save their 5 wickets in the 2nd innings. However, the rain too played a major role in saving Australia from defeat. The entire day 5 of the match was washed out due to rain. Eventually, AUS vs ENG 4th Test ended in a draw.
Notably, Todd Murphy came up with a poor show in 3rd Test. He grabbed just 1 wicket in the match. Later, he was replaced by Cameron Green in the next game. Todd Murphy replaced Nathan Lyon in the 3rd Test.
