Steve Smith is now the ninth batter from Australia to score 14,000 runs internationally.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground during the second One-Day International match against England, the seasoned batsman achieved a significant milestone.

Smith scored 94 runs in the game off 114 balls, including five fours and a six. He had an 82.45 percent strike rate on the ball.

At this point, Steve has 14,065 runs at an average of 49.52 in 288 games and 328 innings. His best solo score was 239, and he has recorded 40 centuries and 69 half-centuries. Across all formats, he has a 65.44 strike rate.

He is now Australia’s ninth-highest run scorer in international cricket, passing David Boon (13,386).
Smith made his international debut in February 2010 as a leg spinner, launching his career abroad. He did, however, appear to change into an automatic run-scoring machine.

The 33-year-old has recently been in superb form. After winning the first ODI on Thursday by six wickets, Australia is currently up 1-0 in the series (17 November).

The experienced Australian batsman, who is now in the second ODI, scored 94 runs off 114 deliveries before falling off Adil Rashid, missing a century by six runs.

Only the illustrious Don Bradman (99.94) has a higher average among batsmen with at least 5,000 Test runs, and Smith’s is 60.01.

He has the joint-third most international centuries of any Australian batter with 40.

The top five run scorers in international cricket are Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar (34,357), Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakara (28,016), Ricky Ponting (27,483), Sri Lankan batter Mahela Jayawardene (25,957) and great South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis (25,534).

The third and final ODI of the three-match series will be played on Tuesday (November 22) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
