England skipper Ben Stokes hailed Stuart Broad for his fairytale finish in the AUS vs ENG 5th Test of Ashes 2023. Ben  Stokes also revealed what went through his mind during the final moments of the match.

England needed to dismiss two more wickets in about 24 overs during the final session of the 5th Test white defending 50-plus runs. Ben Stokes brought back Stuart Broad into the attack. The England pacer hunted the final 2 wickets to snatch victory for England by 49 runs.

Ben Stokes Reveals What Went Through His Mind In Final Moments Of 5th Test

While speaking to the press, Ben Stokes heaped praises on Stuart Broad for his final spell in the 5th Test. Stokes also opened up what went through his mind when England needed two more wickets to win. Refrain from using cuss words, Stokes said he thought it would be a pity if they win the match.

“I am not going to lie on the back of my mind. When we got to the position when they were 8 down, it will be almighty I can’t swear here, it will be almighty train wreck if we didn’t win that game”, Stokes said.

The England all-rounder also mentioned that he brought Stuart Broad back into the attack because of his expertise with bowling left-handers.

“So yeah, I chose my moment quite well to bring back Broady (Stuart Broad) back into the attack.  Two left-handed, you have seen the way he bowls at left-handers. And yeah, that was just his moment. I just kept saying just bowl the same ball over and over beacuse you will eventually get the wicket”, the England skipper further said. Have a look at the video below. 

Stuart Broad gave a stunning bowling performance in Ashes 2023. With 22 scalps, he was the leading wicket-taker for England in the series. The right-arm pacer also retired from Test cricket after Ashes 2023.

England crushed Australia by 49 runs in the 5th Test of Ashes 2023. As a result, the AUS vs ENG Test series ended in a 2-2 draw. England earlier won the 3rd Test by 3 wickets. Australia won the opening two games by 2 wickets and 43 runs respectively. The 4th Test ended in a draw.
