A video has emerged on the internet of former English captain Nasser Hussain slapping Mark Butcher in the commentary box. The commentary box could be a dangerous place to make fun of former teammates and Mark Butcher learned it the hard way on Thursday (July 20).

The former England batsman was commentating on day two of the ongoing second Ashes Test in Manchester when his former captain and teammate Nasser Hussain hilariously decided to slap him on the head.

It all began when Mark Butcher and his fellow commentator and former Australia captain Mark Taylor decided to have some fun at Nasser Hussain’s expense.

With Nasser Hussain standing behind them, Butcher and Taylor decided to discuss the former England captain’s infamous toss decision during the 2002 Ashes Test at the Gabba.

The former England captain decided to bowl first on a flat track after winning the toss and the decision completely backfired. Australia ended day one on 364 for 2 with Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting scoring centuries.

Mark Butcher was also a part of the England playing eleven for the game as he and Nasser Hossain scored fifties in the first innings after Australia piled up 492. The hosts went on to win the game by 384 runs after bowling out England for just 79 runs in the second innings.

Nasser Hussain slaps Mark Butcher:

Recalling Nasser Hossain’s infamous decision, Mark Butcher and Taylor started pulling his legs. Taylor was the first to go as he said: “So that was the famous Nasser we’ll bowl first.”

In reply, Mark Butcher hilariously said: “We don’t mention that in this circle. Balls bouncing twice to get people out bowled or lbw or that toss decision.”

As soon as he completed his sentence, all three former cricketers broke into laughter before Hussain walked up to Butcher and hilariously slapped him on his head. After a few seconds, Butcher came up with yet another funny remark, saying: “Bullying in the workplace.”
