In the midst of his World Cup campaign in India, Pakistan star Mohammad Rizwan is facing legal trouble. At a time when the wicketkeeper-batsman would have wanted to focus only on cricket, he is garnering attention for unwanted reasons.

He was reportedly targeted with religious chants by a section of fans after his dismissal during the India vs Pakistan clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last week. Mohammad Rizwan had faced severe backlash from the Indian fans in 2021 too when he had offered Namaz on the field during the game against India in the T20 World Cup.

And now New Delhi-based advocate Vineet Jindal has filed a complaint against the right-handed batsman for offering Namaz (prayer) on the cricket pitch during the match against the Netherlands earlier in the ongoing World Cup. The incident took place during a break as he decided to offer his prayers in the middle of the playing field.

Mohammad Nawaz’s conduct on the cricket field has not gone down well with many and it has landed him in legal trouble. A complaint has been formally lodged with the ICC as the advocate has expressed his concerns over religious displays during cricket matches. The advocate has also complained about Mohammad Rizwan dedicating his match-winning century against Sri Lanka to Gaza.

Urging the ICC to take actions against the Pakistan batter, the advocate posted a copy of his complaint on X (formerly Twitter).

Earlier this year, Mohammad Rizwan had faced criticism and trolling for the same reason. He faced the backlash after offering Namaz on a busy street in the United States. Well, the Pakistan batter would be hoping to leave all the controversies behind and bounce back after his failure with the bat in his team’s humiliating loss to India. India ended Pakistan’s winning start in the competition by thrashing them by seven wickets.
