A hilarious incident involving Mitchell Starc and Imam-ul-Haq took place during the game between Australia and Pakistan at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday (October 20).

Pakistan and Australia are currently involved in the crucial World Cup clash. While Australia are looking to register their second win of the competition after losing their first two games, Pakistan are trying to get back to winning ways after suffering a crushing 7-wicket defeat at the hands of arch-rivals India last week.

Given the high stakes involved in a game like this, players typically refrain from engaging in humor or jesting with each other while on the field. However, Mitchell Starc decided to have some fun that too after Pakistan made a brilliant start with the bat.

In his first spell, the left-arm pacer ended up conceding 28 runs in only 3 overs and could not pick any wicket. He was reintroduced into the attack before the 21st over and he conceded 3 runs. And in his next over, he decided to leave the fans in splits with his hilarious action.

He left Imam-ul-Haq bewildered as he chose not to release the ball after completing his bowling run-up. There is also a possibility that the ball just slipped out of the pacer’s hand. The Pakistan opener was anticipating a short delivery and got into position for the shot before being left puzzled. Both he and Mitchell Starc shared a laugh over the incident before the latter walked back.

Talking about the game, Pakistan have lost three quick wickets after making a solid start. Chasing an improbable total of 368 runs, Pakistan were off to a good start with Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique adding 134 runs for the first wicket. However, Marcus Stoinis dismissed both of them in quick succession before Adam Zampa dismissed Babar Azam to leave Pakistan 3 down for 175.

At the time of writing this report, they were on 200 for 3 after 30 overs, needing 168 runs more in the last 20 overs. Earlier in the game, centuries from David Warner and Mitchell Marsh propelled Australia to a huge total of 367 for 9.
