AUS vs SL: Watch - Mitchell Starc Removes Lahiru Kumara With His Trademark Yorker

Mitchell Starc did what he does best as he wrapped up the Sri Lanka tailenders in a flash in the ongoing match 14 of the ICC World Cup 2023. The left-arm pacer also bowled his trademark yorker delivery at the Ekana Stadium in Lahore that lifted the crowd Cup. 

Mitchell Starc removed Sri Lanka pacer Lahiru Kumara with a yorker and the batter had no clue about it. The batter failed to get his bat down in time and the ball rattled into the base of the stumps. It was a fiery ball, too good for a tailender.

It was Mitchell Starc’s second wicket of the day. He earlier removed Dhananjaya de Silva for 7 runs after the rain break. Australia made a remarkable comeback in the game after being taken to runs by Pathum Nissanka (61) and Kusal Mendis, who batted brilliantly and added 125 runs for the opening partnership. 

Skipper Pat Cummins displayed magnificent leadership as well as the bowling performance. He made brilliant changes and put Sri Lanka under immense pressure. 

Australia were under real pressure coming into the game. They had lost both their games as they played poor cricket. However, they have looked a class apart in the ongoing game. The intensity on the field from them was electric as they took some brilliant catches, unlike the last match, where they dropped 6 catches.

Apart from Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins taking wickets, Adam Zampa was also amongst the wickets as he made a mockery of Sri Lanka’s middle order. He spun the web around them and made them look clueless. 

He removed Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Chamika Karunaratne, and Maheesh Theekshana in his spell. The leg-spinner returned with the figures of 4/47. His form will be crucial for the team going into the tournament. Glenn Maxwell also chipped in with one wicket as Australia bundled out Sri Lanka for 209 runs.
