Australia A squads for the upcoming India tour have officially been announced, and the teenage sensation Sam Konstas has been selected with an eye on the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2027.
Australia A tour of India 2025 consists of two four-day matches and three one-day matches, which will be played across Lucknow and Kanpur.
Sam Konstas looks to win selectors' trust ahead of Ashes 2025-26
Australia A will play their first four-day match at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow from September 16 to 19, and the second match will be held at the same venue from September 23 to 26.
After that, the focus will shift towards the one-day matches that are scheduled to be played on September 30, October 3, and October 5 at Green Park in Kanpur.
The 19-year-old opener Sam Konstas is part of the Australia A squad for the four-day matches and is the only Test incumbent selected.
He rose to fame with his debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India as he played quickfire knocks at the top, but since then, the teenager has seen a massive downfall in his career.
His spot isn't guaranteed for the Ashes 2025-26, and the matches in India will provide him with a good opportunity to win back the trust of selectors.
Talking about other notable inclusions, Cooper Connolly, Todd Murphy, and Nathan McSweeney - all of whom have played Test cricket - are part of the four-day squad, while Jake Weatherald, Jason Sangha, and Matthew Renshaw haven't been included. Notably, Sangha is among the players currently in Chennai on an MRF Academy tour.

The subcontinent provides many unique challenges - CA chief selector George Bailey
In an official statement, Cricket Australia (CA) chief selector George Bailey, while talking about the squads, said that the subcontinent conditions will give the emerging players a good chance to upgrade their skills.
"The subcontinent provides many unique challenges and the opportunity to utilise different skills with bat and ball," selection chief George Bailey said as quoted by Cricket.com.au.
"We hope repeated experiences in these conditions will assist players in developing an effective method and understanding of their game for future subcontinent tours.
"For many of these players we remain interested in the development of their short-form cricket as well, but balancing out priorities meant we wanted them back and available for the start of the Sheffield Shield season."
