Australia Announce Squad For T20I Series Against Sri Lanka

Josh Hazlewood is a part of the 16-member Australia squad which has been announced for the five-match T20I series against Australia. Ben McDermott has also found a place in the squad after his recent exploits in the BBL. The matches will be played in Sydney, Melbourne and Manuka Oval. The matches will be played between February 11-20. 

Josh Hazlewood missed the final four Tests of the Ashes 2021-22 after picking up an injury in the first Test. McDermott, on the other hand was the Player of the Tournament in the BBL scoring 577 runs at a strike rate of 153.86. He has played two ODIs and 17 T20Is for Australia and was a part of the squad that travelled to Bangladesh and West Indies last year.

 Mitchell March and David Warner will miss the series to prepare for the upcoming Pakistan tour. Justin Langer will also miss the series and Andrew McDonald will be the coach of the side in his absence in the series. 

The matches will be played at the said venues “to minimise biosecurity risks by reducing travel across the country,” CA said in a release.
