Australia-New Zealand ODI series to clash with The Hundred in 2027
Cricket could witness another club-versus-country battle next year after reports suggested that Australia's proposed ODI series against New Zealand is on a collision course with The Hundred 2027.
According to Daniel Cherny of CODE Sports, the ODI series is only tentatively scheduled at this stage, but its current window overlaps with The Hundred, which is traditionally held between late July and mid-August in England. The 2026 edition, for instance, is being played from July 21 to August 16.
If the schedule remains unchanged, several Australian and New Zealand cricketers contracted by Hundred franchises may face a difficult decision between fulfilling international commitments and honouring franchise deals.
The situation could create yet another high-profile franchise-versus-international cricket showdown, with Cricket Australia expected to closely monitor the scheduling before finalizing the tour.
Australia vs New Zealand head-to-head record in ODIs and top performers
Australia have enjoyed a clear upper hand over New Zealand in ODI cricket over the years. The two teams have met 142 times, with Australia winning 96 matches, while New Zealand have secured 39 victories. Seven games have ended without a result, giving Australia an impressive win percentage of over 71%.
The rivalry has largely been contested through the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy, with Australia dominating the recent meetings. Australia won the 2016-17 series at home (3-0) before completing another 3-0 clean sweep in 2022. New Zealand, however, enjoyed success in the preceding years, winning the 2014-15 series (1-0), the 2015-16 series (2-1) and another 2-0 triumph during the 2016-17 season on home soil.
Several Australian legends dominate the statistical charts in this rivalry. Ricky Ponting remains the leading run-scorer with 1,971 runs, well ahead of Mark Waugh (1,362), David Boon (1,305), Dean Jones (1,301) and Matthew Hayden (1,258).
With the ball, former Australia pace spearhead Glenn McGrath tops the wicket-taking list with 59 wickets. He is followed by Brett Lee (52), New Zealand great Ewen Chatfield (51), legendary left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori (50) and Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne (49).

The sixth edition of The Hundred has reached an exciting stage, with several teams firmly in the race for the knockout spots in both the men's and women's competitions.
Men's competition
Trent Rockets have emerged as the team to beat, sitting at the top of the table with 20 points from six matches after winning five games. Welsh Fire occupy second place with 16 points, while Manchester Super Giants are third with 12 points following their recent victory over Welsh Fire. MI London and Sunrisers Leeds are also on 12 points, keeping the race for the playoffs wide open.
Women's competition
In the women's tournament, Trent Rockets and Southern Brave are level on 20 points, although the Rockets lead the standings courtesy of a superior net run rate. Manchester Super Giants Women are third with 14 points, while Welsh Fire Women remain in contention in fourth with 12 points.
