The Australia national cricket team achieved a humiliating record against the India national cricket team during the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) opener. On Day 2 of the match, the team, under Pat Cummins, recorded their second-lowest innings total against India on their home soil.
India took a 46-run lead in the first innings of the BGT 2024-25 opener in Perth on Saturday, November 23. Australia was bowled out for just 104 runs in 51.2 overs. India's stand-in captain, Jasprit Bumrah, achieved his 11th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, while debutant Harshit Rana took three wickets.
Australia Hit 43-Year Low Against India in Test Cricket
The hosts resumed the second day's play at 76/6 with Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc at the crease. Bumrah dismissed Carey, who scored 21 runs, on his first delivery. Rana then removed Nathan Lyon, but Mitchell Starc smashed a boundary to help Australia avoid its lowest-ever Test score against India.
Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood added the hosts' highest partnership in their innings. The pair added 25 runs off 110 balls for the tenth wicket. Starc lost his patience and was dismissed for 26 runs off 112 balls. He mistimed a big shot against Harshit Rana, and Rishabh Pant completed the catch.
The Aussies' total of 104 in the first innings marked their second-lowest Test score against India at home, with their lowest being 83 in Melbourne in 1981. This score also stands as the fourth-lowest overall Test total against India.

Aussie Top Order Rattled by Jasprit Bumrah on Day 1 in Perth
Earlier on Day 1, a total of 17 wickets fell. India was bowled out for 150 in the first innings on challenging batting conditions. Josh Hazlewood picked up four wickets, while Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Marsh took two each. Nitish Kumar Reddy was the top scorer for India with 41 runs off 59 balls.
