Australia will be taking on Pakistan in the ninth match of the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2025. The match will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday (October 8).
Australia will be keen to register a win after their previous game against Sri Lanka was washed out without a ball being bowled. The record World Cup winners began their campaign in style as they thrashed their Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand by 87 runs.
Riding on Ashleigh Gardner's century, Australia scored 326 runs before bowling out New Zealand for 237. Sophie Molineux and Annabel Sutherland impressed with the ball, taking three wickets each.
Pakistan, on the other hand, have started their campaign in a poor fashion. They have lost their first two games. Their campaign started with a 7-wicket defeat against Bangladesh were they were all out for just 129 runs. It was followed by an 88-run loss against India.
Pakistan finished on the bottom of the table at the past three editions of the World Cup and if they do not turn things around quickly, it would not be surprising if they finish at the bottom once again.
