India’s pace sensation Avesh Khan would be under observation by the BCCI medical team as he suffered a finger injury on the first day of the warm-up game against India. Avesh Khan played for the County Select XI instead of India as the former struggled with player availability. Along with the right-arm speedster, Washington Sundar also played for them.

Avesh Khan delivered 9.5 overs and conceded 41 runs without a wicket before the thumb injury on his left hand restricted him from bowling. Hence, the bruise would not allow the 24-year old to further participate in the fixture. Khan’s injury also puts him in doubt for the five-match Test series in England even though he is unlikely to start the series.

Apart from Avesh Khan, the tourists also have injury concerns relating to captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. Kohli and Rahane did not feature in the three-day practice game against the County Select XI in Durham as the former had a stiff back and the latter had a swollen hamstring. Meanwhile, KL Rahul’s hundred rescued a wobbly Indian side, while Ravindra Jadeja also made 75 runs. They were eventually bundled out for 311. The Test series kickstarts from the 4th of August at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
