Former Cricket Association of Bengal president Avishek Dalmiya and current IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal will continue in their roles in the IPL Governing Council. The decision was taken after they were re-elected in the governing council at the Annual General Meeting of the BCCI held in Goa on Monday (September 25).
According to a report in the news outlet PTI, the re-election of Dhumal and Dalmiya was pretty much expected as a state unit representative said:
“All routine decisions happened. The list of names for the cricket committees and the sub-committees will be prepared by the office bearers as entrusted by the House. As far as IPL GC is concerned, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal and Avishek Dalmiya were supposed to be elected and it happened on expected lines.”
During the AGM, the general body informed about BCCI earning more than 38 per cent from annual revenue generated by the ICC and also Rs 67 crore (approx) per match earning from media rights during the next cycle of bilateral series. The board members were also apprised of the new budget and the profit that BCCI made in the last financial year.
In another decision taken at the AGM, Pragyan Ojha will no longer be serving in the Indian Cricketers’ Association. The former India spinner was the ICA representative in the Apex Council. Ojha’s replacement will be picked after an election by the ICA.
“The ICA will have its election and then choose their new representative,” a source said.
