The batsman has struggled throughout the ongoing season, and Iceland Cricket has attracted attention on social media.
Babar, the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, had another disappointing outing in the PSL 2025 against Multan Sultans on April 19. He was dismissed for two runs off five balls after Zalmi chose to bat first at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The right-handed batter recorded scores of 0 and 1 in previous outings.

Babar Azam was dismissed LBW by left-arm pacer David Willey in the third over of Peshawar Zalmi’s innings. The former Pakistan captain faced heavy trolling on social media, with Iceland Cricket mocking his performance with a witty comment.

Babar was excluded from the T20I squad for Pakistan's recent tour of New Zealand. While he retained his place in the ODI squad, he was left out of the T20I team. The ongoing Pakistan Super League 2025 is a crucial opportunity for Babar to impress selectors and earn a spot back in the T20I side.
Peshawar Zalmi Secured a 120-Run Victory Despite Babar Azam's Failure
Peshawar Zalmi made a comeback after a poor start in their PSL 2025 match against Multan Sultans. They lost openers Babar Azam and Saim Ayub early, but the middle order helped the team post a massive total of 227 runs. Their bowlers bundled out Multan for just 107 runs, securing a 120-run victory.
This was Peshawar's first win of the season after losses to Quetta and Islamabad United. They are currently fifth on the points table. Meanwhile, Multan have lost all three of their matches and are at the bottom. Islamabad United leads the table with three wins from three games.
Peshawar's next matches are against Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, and Quetta on April 21, 24, and 27, respectively.
All Three of Babar Azam's Dismissals in PSL 2025 Have Come Against Left-arm Pacers
Babar Azam has faced challenges against left-arm pacers in PSL 2025, with all three of his dismissals so far coming at the hands of such bowlers. He was dismissed for a duck off just two balls by Mohammad Amir in the opening match against Quetta Gladiators. The opening batter hit the ball to short cover.
Babar scored only one run before being dismissed by Ben Dwarshuis in the following match against Islamabad United. He was caught by Jason Holder at slip after edging the delivery. With three consecutive failures against left-arm fast bowlers, the pressure is mounting on the 30-year-old batter.
