Pakistan National Cricket Team have come under a massive scanner after their poor performances in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side faced a group stage exit, and it was the third ICC event in a line, where they had the same fate.

The Pakistan National Cricket Team, along with everyone involved, including selectors, coaches, and others, have faced a lot of criticism. Several fans, as well as former cricketers of the team, have raised calls for strict action to be taken for the team's poor performances.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif will ‘take notice’ of the men’s cricket team’s dismal outing in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The matter, however, is all set to be addressed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif. As per the reports in IANS, it is learned that the PM will ‘take notice’ of the men’s cricket team’s dismal outing. Also, he will take the matter to his cabinet and the country’s parliament.

The development was confirmed by the Prime Minister’s aide on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah. He said that Shehbaz Sharif will be taking the matter to cabinet as the sport at college and district levels is in a bad position. Speaking to IANS, he said:

“The Prime Minister will personally take notice, and we will also ask him to raise these cricket-related issues in the cabinet as well as in the parliament.

“The sport at college and district levels is in a bad position, and the amount that has been spent on a professional level should be revealed before the public."

Pakistan faced two back-to-back losses against New Zealand and Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan, who hosted an ICC tournament for the first time since 1996, started the tournament with a loss against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side faced a 60-run loss as they failed to chase the target of 320 runs.

After that, the hosts faced a poor 6-wicket loss to India. It was an extremely poor performance with the bat and ball, as they first got all out for just 241 runs and then failed to put pressure on the batters. India chased the target with ease as they won the game with more than 6 overs to spare.

This is the first time a home side has failed to win even a single match of an ICC tournament

This is the first time a home side has failed to win even a single match of an ICC tournament. Their last game against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team got washed out due to rain and it saw them sharing one point each and ending the group stage last on points table.

There have been several reports that claimed that after the early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the team’s brand value will also take a hit, which can affect sponsorship deals. It is also learned that PCB will be sacking interim head coach Aaqib Javed and other support staff.
