Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Babar Azam has become one of the major talking points in cricket. This is because the premier batter has been dropped from the team for the upcoming second and third Tests against the England National Cricket Team.

Babar, who has faced a lot of criticism for his poor outing in the Tests, has been dropped from the team after his poor performance in the first Test against England. On a track, where almost every batter had a staggering time, the premier batter bagged failures in both the innings.

Babar Azam has been advised by the selection committee to take a rest from cricket

However, to worsen the case for him, a fresh set of reports in Pakistan media has suggested something that won't be good for Babar. The reports claimed that the right-hander hasn't got backing from the selection committee and is likely to be released from the the squad for the remaining two games.

The reports claimed that Babar Azam has been advised by the selection committee to take a rest from cricket amid the poor run of form in the longest format of the game. Therefore not only from the second Test, the former captain of the team will be missing the third game of the Test series as well.

Not only Babar, the reports also claimed that Abrar Ahmed and Sarfaraz Ahmed have also been released from the squad. Haseebullah, as a keeper, will join the squad, and Sarfaraz Ahmed and Babar will travel to Lahore together.

PCB confirms Babar Azam has been dropped from Test squad

The reports emerged to be true as the Pakistan Cricket Board then announced the squad for the last two Tests against the England National Cricket Team. The likes of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah were dropped from the team with the governing body, including a fresh set of players.

Babar has been failing to get going in Test cricket. The right-hander hasn't scored a Test half-century since December 2022. Things haven't worked in his favour at all as he has been failing to convert the starts that he has got for the team in the longest format of the game.

Babar Azam fails in the first Test against England

In the first Test against England, Babar scored 30 runs in the first innings and then followed it up with a 5-run innings in the second innings as he was beaten on the inside edge in the first innings and the outside in the second and also faced a lot of flake for his poor outing.

Since the start of 2023, Babar averaged under 21 in nine Tests. With him now getting dropped from the team to get time off, the former skipper of the team would be keen to make a staggering comeback to the team, especially with crucial games around the corner.

The second Test against England begins on October 15 in Multan. England won the first Test by an innings and 47 runs to hand Pakistan sixth Test defeat on the trot.
