Babar Azam rates Steve Smith’s cover drive better than Virat Kohli; claims PSL is better than IPL

Pakistan batter Babar Azam shocked the world with his picks on Thursday (1st February). He rated Steve Smith’s cover drive as the best in the world and didn’t name Virat Kohli, who arguably is the best player of cover drive

There are only a few players in the current generation of players who have mastered the art of playing cover drive. The likes of Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root are among those who play shot elegantly.

But as per Babar Azam Steve Smith has the best cover drive in the world. The batter during a live session on X didn’t even name Virat Kohli and his choice raised quite a few eyebrows, especially the way the Indian batter has aced that shot.

If this was not enough, Babar Azam picked the Pakistan Super League (PSL) over the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the best T20 tournament, saying that the Pakistan-based league is the best in the world.

Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most lucrative cricketing league in the world. Since the introduction of the league in 2008, it has grown in leans and bounds and is rated on the same page as other sporting leagues such as the NBA, NFL, and EPL.

Not only monetarily, but the kind of competition that IPL sees between the bat and ball sets it apart from the other leagues in the world. Various global superstars have played in the league and have played a huge role in making it a success.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) on the other hand is slowly rising. It is rated amongst the best leagues in the world of cricket. The tournament is helping to shape the cricket in Pakistan and as IPL did to India, the league is doing the same for the cricket in Pakistan.

Babar Azam picks AB de Villiers as his dream batting partner

Babar Azam was also asked to pick his dream batting partner on X Space. The Pakistan batter named former South African cricket AB de Villiers, saying that he has always played matches against him but he always wished to bat with him.

He stated: “My dream batting partner is one and only AB Devilliers. I have played match against him but I always wished to bat with him.”

AB de Villiers is one of the most exciting cricketers who played the game of cricket. It’s fair to say that he changed the dynamics of the way the game is played with his ability to play shots all over the ground. Rated as Mr 360, he ended his career as one of the best players for South Africa in all three formats of the game. The batter also was a part of IPL as well as the PSL.
