Pakistan National Cricket Team Test captain Babar Azam has added another special achievement to his already impressive international career. Babar Azam created history during the ongoing two-match Test series opener against the West Indies by crossing the 4,500-run mark in the format.
The ongoing Test series is already special because Babar returned as Pakistan's Test captain. And now he became one of the few Pakistan batters to cross the 4,500-run mark in Test cricket. He reached the milestone on Day 2 of the first Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
Babar Azam creates history with 4,500 Test runs milestone
After crossing the landmark, Babar Azam became the first cricketer in the world to score more than 4,500 runs in all three international formats. He also became the 10th Pakistani player to cross the 4,500-run mark in the traditional format of the game.
Along with his 4,504 Test runs, Babar has also scored 6,626 runs in One-Day Internationals and 4,596 runs in T20 Internationals to become the first player in the world to achieve this special milestone. Amid this, Clive Lloyd criticises ECB over Ben Stokes' nightclub controversy.

The stylish right-handed batter needed only 19 runs to complete the landmark when he came out to bat in the ongoing two-match Test series opener. He reached the milestone comfortably before his innings came to an end on 23 runs from 38 balls.
Babar Azam joins Pakistan's elite list of Test batters
The Pakistan Test captain was dismissed by the West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales in the 46th over of Pakistan's innings at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. Before getting out, Babar shared a useful 41-run partnership for the third wicket with Shan Masood.
With this achievement, Babar became only the 10th Pakistan batter to score more than 4,500 runs in Test cricket. He reached the landmark in his 63rd Test match and 115th innings. So far, Babar has scored 4,504 Test runs at an average of 42.49.
His Test career includes nine centuries and 31 half-centuries. However, the Pakistani star has not yet smashed a Test century since December 2022, and he will now be hoping to end that long wait on the West Indies tour.
Babar Azam's strong numbers in Test cricket
He has an impressive record against the West Indies, scoring 487 runs at an average of 30.43 in nine Tests. Speaking about his Test career, the star batter has scored 1,766 runs at an excellent average of 50.45 in 20 home games. In 35 away Tests, he has amassed 2,211 runs at an average of 38.12.
Babar has also scored 527 runs in matches played at neutral venues, averaging 40.53. As captain, Babar has also enjoyed impressive success with the bat. He has now scored 1,750 runs at an outstanding average of 50, including four centuries and 11 half-centuries as captain in 21 Tests.
Speaking about the ongoing first Test, Pakistan is currently trailing by 112 runs after West Indies made 311 runs in the first inning at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
