The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), on Thursday (August 17), announced the schedule for the upcoming Bangladesh vs New Zealand series. The Black Caps are scheduled to play three ODIs and two Tests against Bangladesh on either side of the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2023.
It will be a special series between the two nations as it will bring an end to Bangladesh’s long ten-year wait to host New Zealand. The Black Caps last visited Bangladesh for a bilateral series in 2013. 10 years ago, New Zealand visited Bangladesh for two Tests, three ODIs, and one T20I.
Both the Tests had ended in a draw before Bangladesh whitewashed the visitors in the three-match ODI series. New Zealand managed to end the tour in a respectable manner by winning the solitary T20I.
Schedule for Bangladesh vs New Zealand series 2023:
Ten years after last hosting New Zealand, Bangladesh are all set for another home series against the Black Caps. Just before the World Cup, both the teams will play three ODIs. The three-match series will give both the teams the opportunity to finetune their preparations for the World Cup before they fly to India for the tournament.
New Zealand’s tour of Bangladesh will kickstart on September 21 with the first ODI. The second and third matches are scheduled to be played on September 23 and 26 respectively. All the ODI matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
After the World Cup ends, New Zealand will return to Bangladesh for the two-Test series. While the venue for the series is yet to be announced, the BCB has confirmed that the series will start on November 28. The second Test will be played from December 6.
Meanwhile, the ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place from October 5 to November 19. New Zealand will start their campaign in the competition on October 5 against reigning champions England and will be looking to avenge the loss in the 2019 World Cup final.
