Fans on X reacted after the Sri Lanka Cricket Team thumped the Bangladesh Cricket Team by 5 wickets in the second game of the Asia Cup 2023. The game took place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele and the Island nation made sure that they kickstarted the tournament on high.
The first innings of the game belonged to Sri Lanka as they bowled magnificently well and bundled out Bangladesh for just 164 runs. Right from the start of the game, the hosts’ bowlers were all over the opposition batters and kept taking wickets at regular intervals.
Matheesha Pathirana bagged four wickets whereas Maheesh Theekshana picked two wickets. Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, and Dunith Wellage also picked a wicket each and helped the team bundle out the opposition for a low total.
For Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto was the only batter who looked settled and batted well. The southpaw scored 89 runs in tough conditions and looked unfazed by the wickets falling on the other hand. His vital contribution helped Bangladesh post a total of 164 runs.
While chasing the target, Sri Lanka lost quick wickets and were tottering at 43/3. But it was then that Sadeera Samarawickrama (54) and Charith Asalanka joined hands together and batted superbly. They had a 78-run partnership and made sure that the team didn’t lose the easy game.
Asalanka ended with the knock of unbeaten 62 runs whereas skipper Dasun Shanaka (14*) struck some lusty blows in the end. They remained unbeaten and took their team past the finishing line. Sri Lanka won the game by 5 wickets and would now be very confident going into the next game.

Despite all the Injuries and some limitations, Chris Silverwood has done a decent job with SL. Yeah, SL perhaps could have been a little more agressive with the bat in the 2nd innings of the first test v Pak.
Selector/coach dual role didn't work for ENG. Some of the…
