BAN vs SL: Watch - Bangladesh Batters Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy Involved In Nasty Collision In Asia Cup 2023

Young Bangladesh National Cricket Team batters Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy were involved in an ugly collision during the Asia Cup 2023 clash against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, August 31.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first in the match No.2 of Asia Cup 2023. Both the teams entered the competition in the absence of some mainstays on their side. Bangladesh are missing Litton Das and Tamim Iqbal, both of whom are set to miss the entire tournament.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have been decimated more in the bowling department as three of their first-choice seamers in Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara and Dilshan Madhushanka have been ruled out of the tournament while the in-form leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who delivered an exceptional performance in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League, has been ruled out due to a grade two strain in the thigh.

Meanwhile, the decision to bat first against Sri Lanka turned out to be an awful one for Bangladesh as only one batter – Najmul Hossain Shanto – looked settled in the middle and the rest of the batters struggled against the weakened Lankan attack. Riding on the back of Shanto’s solid 89-run knock, the Bangla Tigers posted a decent 164 runs on the board.

Ugly Collision Between Bangladesh Stars Najmul Hossain Shanto And Towhid Hridoy

During the second innings of the match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, an unfortunate incident took place as Shanto and Hridoy were involved in a collision while fielding.

The incident happened on the 5th delivery of the 13th over, which was bowled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The spinner bowled a full-length ball to the Sri Lanka batter Asalanka and he played it towards cover-point for a single.

Shanto came charging in from point while Hridoy slid in from cover to stop the ball and a nasty collision took place between the players. Hridoy looked in some pain after the incident, but thankfully both the Bangladesh stars didn’t suffer any big injuries and were good to go.
