Global T20 (GT20) Canada franchise Mississauga Bangla Tigers owner and CEO Zaffir Yasin spoke about the controversy that erupted during the Eliminator of the tournament against Toronto Nationals. He questioned the tournament's logistical preparedness, citing "not fit to play" conditions, altering boundary sizes, and last-minute rule changes.

The Global T20 league saw the major controversy Eliminator match between the Bangla Tigers and the Toronto Nationals. The match got washed out to the rain and the wet field. However, despite the conditions not being good for playing, the umpire forced the teams for a super-over to decide the game.

But Bangla Tigers skipper Shakib Al Hasan didn't agree to come for the toss and hence the Toronto Nationals were declared winners. This came as a surprise because the Tigers were placed higher than the Nationals in the tournament points table and also won the head-to-head game between the teams.

However, after that, the Global T20 organized a 10-over competition on the same day ahead of the Qualifier 2. That game didn't take place and Toronto Nationals went on to win the final of the tournament.

Amid all the controversies, Bangla Tigers owner and CEO Zaffir Yasin stated that conditions were not fit to play cricket. He revealed that Chris Lynn, Usman Khawaja, Colin Munro, and Marcus Stoinis complained about conditions throughout the entire tournament. He also stated that even the boundaries were altered as boundary ropes were kept without measurement. Speaking to Cricket.com, Bangla Tigers owner explained:

"First things first, the conditions were not fit to play. That was loud and clear. In the whole tournament, when other captains [Chris Lynn, Usman Khawaja, Colin Munro and Marcus Stoinis] complained that the field conditions were not fit to play, the tournament committee, the technical committee accepted and the match referee all accepted that. And they were right.

"Plus, there were other issues. The officials altered the size of the boundary after the official start time of the match. Additionally, they were decreasing the boundary size without an official measurement. They did it by themselves; they had no idea what they were doing. The ground took up a zig-zag structure on one side.”

This rule was made one day before on WhatsApp - Bangla Tigers owner Zaffir Yasin

Zaffir Yasin lashed out at the Global T20, saying that they shared the news of the change in playing conditions ahead of the game on WhatsApp. He said that it should've been discussed with the Technical Committee, The Owners and Cricket Canada. Bangla Tigers owner said:

"One day before the match, and also on the day of the game, they shared a message on Whatsapp saying that a Super Over will be played in case a 5-over game isn’t possible. Have you ever seen a situation where a match is decided by a super over because it’s raining heavily?

"This rule was made one day before on WhatsApp. That’s a significant change in the playing conditions which should have been discussed with the Technical Committee, The Owners and Cricket Canada because this is a whole different rule altogether," he concluded.
